Star War Sex Parrot posted:Hm, annual upgrade program. I'd need to crunch some numbers on what my annual upgrade has cost in the last few years. I don't think they'll let you sell your phone on this program so it's probably not better. Applecare included is pretty smart tho.

SeANMcBAY posted:Someone do the math on that upgrade program to see if it's worth it. For a 16gb iPhone: Program: $32 x 12 months = $384 for one year, $384 x 2 years = $768 for two years, two phones. Without program: $650 + $99 = $750 for two years, on one phone. Without program, selling minor scratched phone: $650 + $99 - $233 (Glyde price for a iPhone 5s) = $517 for two years, on one phone. Without program, selling minor scratched phone, selling twice $650 + $99 - $395 (Glyde price for a iPhone 6) = $355, $355 x 2 = $710 for two years, two phones.

The big question with the upgrade program is how getting a new phone will work. They talk about an option to get a new phone, which makes it sound like you don't get one on launch day automatically.

Ahh I really miss the plastic phones. I know that the 5c's main purpose was to make the 5s look better but I like mine a lot.

Am I right in noting that I can keep my nerd plan and just get a new phone for basically 40 bucks a month with the new apple plan? If so that's a super sick deal. Yep, the apple cases at least are for both the 6 and 6s.

Wulfolme posted:Did we find out if they upgraded the RAM or not? Nope, and we probably won't know until the devices are in reviewer's hands. Since they didn't announce that the multitasking features the iPad is getting with iOS 9 were coming to the phones I doubt that they upgraded it.

flipoff posted:I did some quick math on the apple upgrade program, and it's looking to me like it might be a good deal compared to buying/reselling your phone. Gazelle is a pawn shop, you're getting a lot less than market value. You could flip an iphone 6 64 GB for $450 dollars or more if you work a little, and you don't have to buy Apple Care. That doesn't mean it's not a good deal, however.

Important to note: the Split View feature of iOS 9, where you can use two full apps side by side on an iPad, will work on the Mini 4. This probably means it has 2gb of ram like the iPad Air does.
