Japan is hosting the next World Cup, right? A strong showing in this one will hopefully generate a lot of interest for that one. Weren't they meant to be getting involved in the Southern Hemisphere rugby competition alongside Argentina as well?

They're in the Super 18 next year, with Argentina.

Although there is some worry that the best players aren't going to be given up by the Top League clubs but I don't know if that is true.

With tries so difficult to come by, why aren't more field goals being attempted?

They are hard to do, and going for a try normally will result in a penalty which will get the same result.

i dont really understand rugby, so when kicking down the pitch why dont rugby players always aim out of bounds to force a lineout instead of aiming for the centre and letting the other team get posession?

If they are outside their 22 and it goes out on the full, the ball goes back to where it was kicked for the line out, but if they are in the 22 it goes where the ball went out.

Which is why sometimes they kick it out, sometimes they don't.

Before I looked up the clubs, I thought "that's an awful lot of Rugby Union players", and only now do I understand the full insanity of the USA 7s Olympic Team. I think we need to make a thread for this team, and this team alone.. And a thread for the Rugby Anime, of course. Because that's important.

Wait... what?
