I can see one immediate and obvious problem with this: The power plant isn't big enough to support everything you need for combat when deployed. An A-class power plant will do it.

I didn't look at the specs cause I'm on my phone, but does it still not have enough power if you set priorities to shut down stuff you don t need when weapons are deployed? Stuff like the FSD, fuel scoop, FSD interdictor, etc?

I did after I got out the station. It was all as it should be, but the buttons on the hotas were not doing what they were supposed to, and I couldn't see a keybind for landing gear despite scrolling through the controls a couple of times. It corrected itself after exiting and re-entering the game. It's the only time anything like that has ever happened and I have no idea why. The game had been running for hours though as I made the last stretch of the journey from about the Eagle nebula to home in one go, something just hosed up I guess.

Ah, that is strange. I had the controls gently caress up once myself, but I realized it was because it was recognizing my Xbox360 gamepad as the first set of buttons instead of my joystick, so while my joysticks boost button is normally say "button 12", instead the joystick was now "Button 31" and "Button 12" was something on the gamepad.

Joystick is, in most people's opinions, the preferred way to play.

As for how engaging exploration is, it depends. To sum it up in the most basic way possible exploration is simply jumping into a new system honking your horn (discovery scanner), and then either scanning everything in the system or opening the map and picking and choosing promising looking (terraforming candidates, earthlikes, etc) planets in the system, then moving on to the next one. There isn't a ton too it, and it gets repetitive mechanically. Its kinda just sightseeing really.

The game can be rather grindy if your goal is nothing but bigger and better ships. However, it doesn't take too much effort to get some decent low-mid-range ships, including basic exploration-suitable ships. The biggest cost is the 1.5mil for the advanced exploration scanner which has an unlimited detection range.

The game is a bit lacking in long-term stuff to do, but if you're ok with making your own fun in a space sim sandbox you'll probably get your money's worth out of the current sale price.

The first part was a bit of kid, but then I thought about it and added the second part. I'd love for a Detailed Surface Scanner to provide useful functionality for flying around a planet even if you're not exploring uncharted territory far from human space. Use it to find crashes, hidden pirate bases, cargo dead drops, etc etc.

I also want pirate bases hidden on the planets that you can raid, or that launch guys at you if you get too close, something cool like that

These were in Frontier: Elite II, so I'm really hoping that happens. Also missions to conduct aerial recon flybys of surface bases (who would deploy fighters to intercept you). There were also missions that'd give you a nuclear missile and orders to go blow up a surface base. :black101:

Well, the Imperial Eagle is definitely fun to fly, but man, the guns feel so anemic after even the Imperial Courier, nevermind the Vulture. I think I've been completely spoiled.

Also, does everything feel crisper to anyone else? Especially the HUD.

It should only want a certain direction if A) You're targeting to make a jump to another system rather than just supercruise or B) you're too close to a major gravity source (aka a planet or star) and you need to enter super cruise facing away from the object (shows an "Escape vector" target/waypoint).

Otherwise, the only other problem I can think of is that it wants you to enter supercruise facing the direction of your momentum vector, so if you fly with assist off, that might cause trouble.
