Here's another book recommendation, OP: http://www.amazon.com/Feeling-Good-Handbook-David-Burns/dp/0452281326/ref=pd_bxgy_14_img_y It's essentially self-guided CBT. It takes effort, but it works, and it's cheap. It teaches you to recognize the thinking errors that cause you to feel negative emotions and make compulsive decisions.
