Huh, Derek Carr is pretty fast

quote:

Max Speed (Quarterback as Ball Carrier)
Of the fastest quarterbacks during Week 2 only one topped 20 mph - Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr (20.05 mph). Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor came in second with 19.72 mph, then came Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson with 19.64 mph. Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill solidified the fourth spot cooking in at 19.39 mph.

Yeah, part of the reason Fred Jackson has stuck around for so long is that he's a beastly pass-blocker(for a back) and has good hands.
And anyone whose seen C.J. Spiller try to block a blitzing linebacker can attest to the fact that a good pass-blocking back can be a valuable asset.

There were games the Bills had where Jackson was their best receiver, their best running back and their best blocker all at once. When we said he was their entire offense we were being half literal.

Short answer: it's the lottery with a thin fantasy football veneer.

Long answer: You submit a team for a single game and compete with a large number of people, and only a small percentage win.

DraftKings pretty much sponsors any podcast that runs advertisements right now, and are so incestuous with ESPN that Grantland's NFL podcast on friday now does a segment where they each build a lineup. At least they talk about interesting stuff during that, but it's still pretty loving shameful.

"Despite attracting 1 million fantasy football players and quadrupling its revenues in 2014, to more than $57 million, FanDuel is not profitable yet. DraftKings, a newer company that has raised $375 million in venture capital, isn’t either, and it has the added pressure of having to pay off its acquisition of DraftStreet, which was at one time the third-largest daily fantasy site in the United States."

Bengals fans: How did the left side of the Chargers OL hold up in pass protection and run blocking? The right side is in chaos right now, but the left side should be pretty stable with King Dunlap and Orlando Franklin.

Also, looking at the box score for Melvin Gordon only tells me so much. How did he look?

It's hard to say how good the left side of the Oline when everyone else was a turnstile. Melvin Gordon looked really good. He busted quite a few good runs. I was suprised they only gave him 16 carries.

Last week they said they weren't sponsored iirc, they're just both playing it and using it as a framework for guys they think will be underrated/exceed expectations.

I hate that Marc Maron is telling me to play DraftKings but I wasn't offended by Grantland talking about playing it and who they're taking.

Yeah, they said that, but they also have a draftkings sponsored ad during the podcast and ESPN and draftkings are pretty much married at the hip right now, so while they might not be being directly paid to do this, I'm certain someone sat them down in a meeting room and said, hey wouldn't it be a good idea if you had a fantasy segment where....
