There's a new 6 minute prequel, 'The Doctor's Meditation', up on the Facebook page. No sign of it on the iPlayer yet.

thrawn527 posted:Again, could you link it or something? I see it nowhere on the Facebook page, even under videos the latest videos are a trailer, an interview with Moffat, and something about Lego. Here you go, if you can't see it from this link maybe it's country-locked or something?

thrawn527 posted:Content not found. So yeah, I guess it's country blocked. Like Barry Foster said, you're not missing a great deal. It's mostly comedy or ambiguous comments in a manner akin to the previous prequel.

2house2fly posted:The Tardis got blown up as well, and it looked more convincing than in Journey's End. I'm sort of wondering if the teleporting was a red herring and Missy and Clara really did get murdered, and the Doctor travelling back to Kid Davros is an attempt to change it. That being the case I'd guess that Davros will spend some time next episode trying to tempt the Doctor into evil, ultimately trying to get him to go back and murder him as a child (why? Who nose) then the Doctor will go back and save Kid Davros instead, perhaps saying "I'm the Doctor! And I save people!" as he does, making it so somehow Clara and Missy will be alive again but causing some kind of time event as a result of changing the past that will cause the series-long story arc. I think that's a fairly neat idea for how it could work out, but the fact that the episode is called "The Witch's Familiar" suggests to me that it's unlikely that Missy and Clara will be out of action for the majority of the run time.

thespaceinvader posted:I repeat. The daleks CAN FLY. Indeed, when the plan all came together and DAVROS WAS VICTORIOUS most of them WERE loving FLYING. Again, how is squishy organic stuff coming up out of the sewers remotely a problem when you can hover a foot off the ground, let alone go literally into space? It's still not ideal that your city is being ripped to shreds. Enough of a distraction for the characters to escape without necessarily having to assume it's meant to be some kind of dalek doomsday.

I thought this was one of the most gripping episodes since Flatline. All the Doctor/Davros scenes were gold.

PriorMarcus posted:Jubilee. Given it's a show about time travel, even though both Asylum and this two-parter start in the present day of when each episode was aired, there's no reason to assume the bits on Skaro and the Asylum take place in the same part of Dalek history.

PriorMarcus posted:I can see her showing up in the first episode, but after that she'll probably be done. She's been wanting to leave the main show practically since she signed the contract so there's no way she will stick around for a kids orientated spin-off. What's your basis for saying this? Has she said as much?

twistedmentat posted:I like how the Doctor's amp was a Magpie. Also, Maisie Williams is the first person who appeared on Game of Thrones before being on Doctor Who? Not counting Walder Frey because he's both a minor character and is probably better known from Harry Potter. Paul Kaye (Prentis, in the story just gone) was in Game of Thrones prior to this too, but only as a small character (Thoros of Myr).

Basically over a long enough time-span every British actor will be on Doctor Who at some point.

Besides Human Nature (which I'm part of the way through and enjoying immensely), which of the other Doctor Who novels of the Lost Years Era are worth a go? Not interested in reading the whole lot beginning to end, but would be keen to read others of comparable quality to this one.

Where and when did this snideness about Nicholas Briggs stories come from? I hardly saw any complaints about his stuff for ages and in the last month or two it seems inescapable.

Sometimes I wish Who weren't quite so popular these days so they'd feel emboldened to do more downright bizarre episodes like The Happiness Patrol or Paradise Towers.
