Non-red F355, reported accident, needs belt service, headers fixed with aftermarket items, no valve guide work done:
http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-f355-3/
Good price, I think. I'd be tempted to get into a 355 if that were around, though I like white much better than silver.

An accident and off-brand color probably really helped here.

This review got me thinking about the idea of driving excitement. DeMuro recently reviewed a 430 Scuderia, whose sound had him remark that it was such an exciting car to drive.

So the guy's knocks against the 308 are that it's not fast, doesn't have good brakes, doesn't sound good. I think that's fair -- a gated shifter along is not enough to make a car exciting, especially not for the price of admission

The 348 had great brakes, very nice handling, the gated shifter, and IMO lackluster sound. Getting that exhaust put it over the top by far. It still wasn't supercar fast, though.

The common refrain is that a slow car driven fast is more fun. I agree. But I think where I'm going with this is that stuff like the exhaust note and specific feel of the controls can be big components of driving excitement, and that I'm now comfortable with looking cars with those features.

I agree that the Miata control implementation is good because it's consistent, but my point was that a Miata could be a dramatically different car if the only difference was that it sounded like a rotary or a V8, and that it is ok to have those factors contribute to how excited a car makes you feel when driving.

This fuckin owns -- the client Tachyon was supporting at the road rally in Italy had a wheelchair, which the 348 carried on rack:

Album has a neat tear-down picture of the motor and a clip of the exhaust:

A red 348 TS with only 2 years since belt service is on BaT:
http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-ferrari-348-3/

I'm actually getting really excited raving about the car in the comments and reliving the ownership. I'd forgotten what the car did for my automotive soul.

Sold at 52k. 2 years on its timing belt. Figure 8-10k for the belt service, and now I feel pretty good about the white 348's sale price, figuring the exhaust was just a freebie in terms of value.

Bleh, DeMuro was not as positive on the 348 as I was expecting:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-r5zArIp-U
Upshot is that he's done his part in keeping 348 prices low.

Things he didn't talk about :
- the mismatched wheel directions
- inboard driver's seat
- leather tool case (though the car didn't have it)
- the gated shifter, which seems like a huge thing to pass over

He didn't rave about the steering like most people who drive it do. I certainly endorse it.

He did, however, bring up one thing that I had never noticed! There's a metal tab for your fingers to help pull out the door, which I never once used.
It's right under the door release in the strake well:

I've looked at these pictures forever and never noticed it.

That exhaust you had really made the car. And the 80's cocaine-white. Doug will be Doug and his reviews are weird and shallow on the driving experience (which is his shtick and I still watch all his poo poo so fair enough), but I am kind of sad he was a downer on the awesome dash font.

I can't blame him entirely. There's lots of what seems to be stoplight to stoplight driving, which would of course give you very little appreciation for the steering.

But yeah, 6/10 on aesthetics? The typeface is perfect. We'll never go back to that, when these days you have awful serif fonts on nav screens that clash with everything else in the car.

So, now that the Lotus is gone, how about another 348?

337km on the clock. Sold for just shy of 150 kiloeuros.

Were I ever to get a 348 again, it'd have to be one with the sports seats, which look amazing. Though that black interior does look nice.
That Sotheby's one has a perfectly flush targa top; so jealous.

I had been worried that mine had some issue that caused the front corners not to line up with the windscreen, but the last 2 348s on BaT had this problem, so I feel better.

The red one was fairly sneaky in presenting the top on:

You can barely make it out as not sitting flush:

E: also, I wouldn't outside park a 348 thanks to its slatted engine lid. That and a TS would leak like mine.

I have a feeling Matt's Cali/bro accent and general demeanor will affect people to different degrees. It doesn't really bother me, but I could see it being really grating.
His awful forearm tatt is a huge distraction. I'm glad they went to that 2-camera setup.

I really want to like Petrolicious as it's beautifully shot and they do strange Euros but there is no real substance in any of the videos.

It's kind of up its own rear end. I feel like they try to peg every owner's story into the same hole instead of letting their personality come through more.

"We did not fix the AC or Sunroof for two reasons, #1 If we had fixed these items, it would have prevented a DIY person the fun of doing it, and #2 as we are in California and the prices are much higher than in other parts of the world. We would have had to pass on this cost to the buyer."

Never saw that before. The car sounds incredible as usual, and the stock stance with the spacers is so awesome:

Back to the Ferrari build quality and paint topic --
a BaT Testarossa deal went south over paint condition:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1988-ferrari-testarossa-6/#comment-1915397

I think the buyer has every right to ask for the car to be in the condition as claimed in the listing, but I also wouldn't be surprised if the paint was sloppy from the factory, as a follow comment has said.

http://www.tachyon-motorsport.nl/projects/1991-ferrari-348-ts-targa/

I definitely want to know how much it sells for; will gently ask my buyer how Euros he's hoping to get.

e: the more I look at the car, the more I have to concede that blacking out the front grill (per factory) would look right.

I missed the DOXX on that. Was it deleted or removed from BaT? Who was it that got called out?

The winning buyer was another dealer, and the seller posted at the top of his response the buyer's business address, name, email, and phone number. Dunno who edited it, if it's Best doing some damage control.

Wait, so this was sold by a dealer to another dealer?

A lot of these exotic dealers have owners that will drive the inventory. A good car won't lose much money if at all, so there's more of a sentimental aspect to the car changing hands.
