I agree. I out-efforted a bunch of people in self-publishing, but I can't sustain it and I'm starting to feel the drag after just a year of doing it full-time. Two/three more novels and I think I'm done.

You can read up in the self pub thread in CC, Sundae's OP is a great guidebook on what to do right. And yes, branding is key, the tighter your brand the better. I've been doing it for 3 and a half years now, went full time a year ago.
