Anyway, since it's been awhile, I'm gonna be rereading the series (rather than just picking up where I left off), and hope it's alright to share my second impressions in here (even though I'm way behind). That being said, I highly suggest posting your reactions without reading the thread proper until you've caught up, as people routinely post stuff that would be massive spoilers to you untagged, and trust me, some of them are better off as a surprise rather than knowing they're coming. Foxy was a good villain and his crew was a bad crew I loving love incompetent boobs with overwhelming superpowers that are too stupid to use them properly, like Ice Man from X-Men who isn't a dude who makes ice, that's just because he's too dumb to realize he has the power of thermal energy manipulation.

The most important part: Usopp's face is on there now. There's no way his village can deny it's him, which is kinda what I was expecting once the story was over and he went home, that the wanted poster having Sogeking on it would lead to nobody believing he made anything of himself out there. But that's out the window for sure now!

A second read-around lets you focus on more subtle things, especially stuff in the background, because One Piece has a ton of them. I've always referred to Oda as Chekhov's Arsenal, he's just got an entire closet full of his guns.

Kaido has the nyan-nyan fruit, which makes him incredibly lucky(that fortune cat thing) and immune to height damage passively, but makes him sprout adorable kitty ears and whiskers when he activates it

I actually kinda wish he'd stuck with the original artstyle, or improved his skill while keeping that style. At the very least, with the women characters. I prefer chapter one Shanks to the current Shanks, look-wise, for example. And don't get me started on Nami.

I've never really thought of him as a non-one piece character. His power is he's a living barracks, his body is staffed by his entire crew who can exit at any time and return to full size. So he can launch a platoon of soldiers out of his legs or cavalry out of his chest, like what happened when he was first introduced. It's a unique and neat power.

Hopefully they'll play a bigger role eventually, and Capone becoming a big mom lackey is the beginnings of it seeing as how he came into direct conflict with the strawhats.

Yeah but they've been almost entirely in the background even then. Capone showing up is the first case of one getting involved directly with the strawhats since Sabaody outside of law, and so it may become a more common occurrence for them to come to blows with the strawhats hopefully. I'm most interested in apoo and Bonney showing up again though
