It's hard to get a good public health campaign explaining that this substance can ruin your life when people are doing a drug that's tremendously similar as a study aid.

I've been clean for a few years now, but when I was using pretty much everyone I knew who used started with adderall. It's similar to the relation between oxycontin and heroin. They are different substances but their effects are similar enough to trigger the same kind of addiction in people who are predisposed to it. (They were always "trying to make it through a big project" or something. Seems a lot of big projects seem to come due around the time people who use a lot of adderall run out...)
