I love parrots and think African Grays are the coolest, but I would never get one in a million years because they live for like 40 something years and they are extremely moody aggressive constantly making GBS threads 2-year olds for the entirety of that 40 years. Also I've read that they become so attached to their owners, they self-mutilate or get depressed and die if you give them away or something happens to you.

I found someone's abandoned domesticated pigeon about two years back, sitting/making GBS threads on my studio's entryway. But she had broken bones, calcified poop on every toe, and was generally in bad shape and though I tried calling a couple bird rescues, nobody would take in this pigeon. I made a thread on PI back in the day to ask for help, but in the end I couldn't help her and took her to the animal shelter to be put down. Sorry filthy hobo pigeon, I tried.

These two birds are so underweight that you can see the bones of their wings. Luckily, as you can see in the photo, they're eating very well now and we hope in a few weeks they will recover enough to be released back to their flock.
