Soft Shell Crab posted:That crow is smarter than me. "So what was the middle part?" This a good crow study: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/26/science/26crow.html quote:Crows and their relatives — among them ravens, magpies and jays — are renowned for their intelligence and for their ability to flourish in human-dominated landscapes. That ability may have to do with cross-species social skills. In the Seattle area, where rapid suburban growth has attracted a thriving crow population, researchers have found that the birds can recognize individual human faces.

Al Borland posted:crows are legit one of my favorite birds. They are hilarious pranksters too, I've seen them make cats fight each other before lol. Best crow research story is when researchers wearing nixon masks attacked and annoyed certain crows. The interesting thing is over time crows not part of the experiment reacted angrily to the nixon mask, showing crows have some form of communication.

Tendai posted:Hawks/birds of prey are awesome My house is surrounded by huge pastures and after they cut the grass there are mice and whatever everywhere, so for days after there are hawks just circling around and gorging. You can get pretty close and they'll still come down, it's neat but kind of because drat they're really pretty big when you get up close. My fav hawk story is a time a saw one taking a nap on a tree branch. A crow flew down and bit him on the rear end, then flew away. Crows are pretty hilarious assholes
