the alcohol actually makes sense from a logistic point of view. water is frozen solid for 80% of the year and dirty bog for 20% of the year. vodka doesn't freeze, vodka doesn't get bacterial infections.

i wonder what the ideal balance/ratio is. yeah, you could enter with your 80 pound Asian wife, but the prize is pathetic. but, obviously, there's no hope of winning with a massive elephant of a wife. what is the "sweet spot" of decent prize money but also not having a cow for a wife?

Nurge posted:Just to poo poo on the finnish myths or whatever no one actually eats bear. Elk is fairly rare. Reindeer is sometimes eaten but it's mostly really rare as food outside of lapland. I have the other two now and then, but I've only eaten bear once in my life and it was at a super fancy russian restaurant. yeah the bear was at a russian place in helsinki the elk and reindeer were delicious and i would never imagine they were staples in the finnish diet. i ate them at pretty nice restaurants. i'm just trying to say some positive things about the bog people so the swedes stop getting so pissy in the finland thread

quote:We had started with a long distance relationship, and after a while I wanted to move to the US where she lived. After 2 best years of my life with her, she graduated from college, and we visited my home country. After the visit, we decided mutually to move to my country, so I could finish my high school degree which was 7 months from completion. However, we did not really look into the immigration process/job opportunities. We just knew Finland was a safe place to live in, and we had good support from our family.
