You keep mentioning a "pro FPS run". That is actually the only way to play this game, because as John Romero himself said it, this is not a beginner's FPS, it is an expert FPS. Experts already know that they don't need any help and should leave their buddies behind.

My experience with this game is limited to two sessions, trying it once from the start and giving up after the second level, and playing 5 minutes of multiplayer which involved hopping around like a flea on crack throwing xena warrior princess sort of rings at people. Neither were particularly fun but I am morbidly curious to see where the game goes.
