One thing that sucks about PSN is that you can't rely on them to have the crazy holiday fire sales like Steam does. But, sometimes DLC goes up on Plus at a reduced cost. I am going to hold off on the pass and cross my fingers for a sale. I don't see Disgaea pulling huge numbers, which means poo poo often goes on sale sooner.

It's weird trying to figure out some of the game mechanics. Like I have no idea what making a captive into a citizen does. The game doesn't explain it except for 'this is good.' Thanks game.

Can anyone confirm if the actual box copy of the game inside of the collector's edition box is the same as a standard one? My CE is currently being shipped halfway across the country and I'm considering grabbing a normal copy and playing it in the meantime then returning the game and case from the CE if it's the same thing because I need this poo poo yesterday.

I've only played the demo but Killia is so weirdly stoic, it's bizarre. Also: This is the first Nippon Ichi game I've ever seen that had illustrated menus. They usually go for a spartan "blank box with sans serif text" on it, boring and utilitarian. Now even the level select screen is busy as hell, it's got starships blowing each other up in the background.

The anime space wars level select is probably the thing I like best about the game so far. Hulk Hogan demon guy is a close second.

Thanks game. Well, if it's anything like how citizens were in previous games- citizens are stat boosters within an item. 'Uncaptured' citizens were only worth half-value and couldn't be transplanted to other items. Captured citizens would realize their full value, and could be moved to other items. I haven't played the game yet and I don't know if this carries on to 5 though. Hopefully the type of citizen hasn't changed from one game to the next. There's charts all over the place as to what type of citizen affects what stat.

You can take enemies you capture in battle and interrogate them and/or make them into citizens, or turn them into stat-boosting items. It's just not clear on what 'citizens' do.

Specialists has been translated as Citizens in previous games. Why they didn't use a keyword that hasn't been used before is beyond me but it adds to Disgaea games always being confusing as hell and discovering yet another way to gain power 100 hours in.

I don't know the exact mechanism, but you can use captured monsters to power up your Squads and add new effects, you may need to draft your citizens to your squads somehow???

Super weird that I know who voiced Void Dark. Also hoping Killia's english VA grows on me, only a few levels in and he's just so bored sounding. Seraphina has a pretty decent VA though.

Killa's performance killed it for me and I switched to the JP audio after a while. It's weird too cuz he's not a bad VA by any stretch of the imagination so I have no clue if the voice direction for him was just awful or what.

So when you fully interrogate your captured monsters, they give an extra bonus when they're assigned to your squads. I don't even know where monsters go when they become citizens.

Haven't played a Disgaea game since #1 on PS2. Really enjoying this so far. I can only really handle it in small-ish bursts, but it's pretty fun so far. And the humor is less embarrassing than I had expected which is a plus.

I just bought the season pass because I have poor impulse control but is there a schedule for when the DLC comes out, or is it all actually on the disk? Because I'm trying to fight Laharl and Etna right now (They're level 7).

The first set was available at launch for the Japanese version too. After that they did another set on the last Thursday of every month. I personally have no idea what their plans for the international version are, though. It might be similar, or it might be a lot faster.

Is there a final floor for items or is it just until you peace out at a town or use a mr. gency? I got to floor 46 before I had to peace out. Netherworld invaders are annoying.
