I benched my starter in Heart Gold and used a Gastly for my starter. I had to use a lovely rattata up until the second gym because of normal ghost resistance qq

Fire-Fighting was a really cool type they just wore it out by having three in a row for whatever reason.

I played through alpha sapphire with all three startwe pokemon by putting up trades for a mudkip for like a tailow or something. Idk why it worked people must be really generous.
