I pretty much dismissed it at launch, hurting someone's feelings in the process and as long as it's free there's no harm in checking it out. I can see why people who did pay for it would be pissed but having satisfied my curiosity I can again dismiss it as something that just doesn't interest me at all and move on.

I'm trying this game out because I try out lots of free MMOs, play them for a few weeks, and then quit forever. If it doesn't work now, I'll probably just wait for the launch shenanigans to calm down.

Really don't get all the hostility here. Pretty obvious that Carbine, or more likely NCSoft, underestimated the interest the game would have for F2P and the two servers (Mega-Servers don't mean poo poo without numbers) are getting bent over the railing and torn up.

You can just hold down a key to spam a move. Also, I set the camera to auto-follow my mouse (which binds 1 and 2 to left and right click), and that feels a lot better to me. Unfortunately the menus and other interactions don't all play nicely with it, so I have to switch back and forth a lot (defaults to `).

When I made a character in the F2P-Beta, I couldn't really take a good look at my char, because a giant robot girl was glued into the middle of the podest and messed everything up. The race that robot belonged to couldn't be selected and when I started with some kind of small intro to test my controls, I freaked out because another guy had spawned directly into my character. Then I noticed this character was the opposite gender standard version of my character's race. He was totally immobile and disappeared into the ether after I finished the short intro and started the prologue. I guess the game had for some strange reason created a lifeless gender-switched copy of my character. I just wish I had remembered to make screenshots, because this was glorious.

It's cool that you move faster since you don't have to hold shift to sprint, but running around my house and sliding around a lot everywhere as I turn is actually really disorienting. Also there's a lot of move speed buffs in the starter zones once you land on the planet, it feels like you're rocketing around at light speed.

IIRC, it's not actually that your characters face is reset - if you relog it will switch between the bugged face and your actual face.

There must be some mod on reddit deleting everything negative because there is just no way they are this happy about the game. It's ok for servers to be constantly broken, pvp server population is healthy, the game is good, etc. On the plus side they currently have less obvious pedos posting than in this thread!

I actually like what they did with changing the challenge rewards. The stupid roulette thing pre-F2P was pointless. It does feel like they nerfed progress gained in challenges for F2P players though.
