The anatomy of revolution is an interesting topic, but it's very hard to find literature that deals with it without being overtly politically biased, either with Glorious Ideals Of The Oppressed or Warmongering Discontented Peasants Threatening Our Way Of Life. Either way, it's a minority thing - most of the people just want to go on with their (already complicated enough) lives. The trick is to make sure they always have something to lose. Suppression and creating a negative image of the intellectuals to discourage questions, and so on.
