Major's life is a stream of unending torments and it is the greatest. There are just no good options for him at all, ever, and it's impossible to see how it can get worse for him without his mind breaking into pieces....but I'm sure it will.

They can 'survive' being frozen in an airless container for weeks at a time, not to mention shrugging off bullet wounds to the more important bits not the brain. They may be alive, but not in the way normal people are.
