The official story is that I was enamored by the last open beta for APB such that since I didn't have a job, I went to an extremely shady hospital around Tampa to donate plasma in order to preorder the game so I could get a 3 day head start and access to the character name I wanted. Then that summer I spent about 12 to 16 hours a day playing APB until the developers went bankrupt like 3 months later and had to shut it down.
