From what I have managed to play of this (haven't finished it yet), this feels like interactive fiction more than any other genre. It's outstanding, and I think the best game in the field, but I am struggling to call it anything else. I mean there are adventure trappings here, but it's not really an adventure game to me. I think it may be because I am getting older.

Doesn't she admit at some point that she had actually been told about something going on at Wapiti and she just now found it buried in a stack of papers? She doesn't come across as the most reliable person to count on for accurate information.

She didn't admit that to me.

It's literally the same thing.

Ned dies because he's deciding to stay in the woods during a massive fire?

I'm pretty sure Ned doesn't die. He's been in the area for years and has become quite the survivalist, I think, not to mention he was already an accomplished outdoorsman before Brian's death. We know he's seen multiple huge fires in his time staying at the park, and it's reasonable to think he should be able to navigate to further areas of the park while avoiding the deadly areas being burnt right now.

Any one of those things would have made this a good game.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't awful at all. I think it was he best interactive fiction I've enjoyed. But a game it wasn't.

Well, I liked it. Won't say I didn't. Enjoyed my time with it.

But I never felt like there was a goal, other than hearing the last line of dialogue. I never felt There was a puzzle or obstacle to overcome. And I had no meaningful decisions to make. At least they didn't feel meaningful.

There was a mild mystery to hear and read about, though. There were characters in the mix. The dialogue was read well and the acting felt convincing to me.

Like I say. I liked it. But perhaps it was less than interactive fiction. More fiction with an interactive camera.
