Can I change from assassin to fighter so that i can get the fighter skills i missed, and then back to assassin without messing anything up stats wise or whatever.?

Yeah, the stats are just determined by what class you are when you level up, and as far as i can tell its better to get a good mix of health and stamina and attack and defense anyway. heres the chart if you give a poo poo

but besides that the assassin and fighter are similar enough and both well-rounded enough as physical attackers that i doubt you'd notice the difference at all

Yes, you will be fine unless you're an insane minmaxer. I played every vocation on hard mode and was able to clear everything in the game.

Of the fighter augments I'd say you really want Sinew and Vehemence if you're going to be an assassin.

i'm going to upgrade it and use it for as long as possible. this time i did that witchwood quest right and didn't screw myself out of the later questline, so i think i'm going back to gran soren and doing notice board stuff before i progress the main questline.

i forgot how much of a pain in the rear end the early game is if you don't know anything about quests and stuff.

"oh an escort quest easy" *travels 2 hours down a road, kills or is killed by 2 ogres, 3 chimeras or the hordes of goblins and harpies that are hanging around an oil pit that blinds you on touch, guy says thanks and then leaves*

good stuff.

make sure you buy your teleport stones early too cause lol

Recovering from illness, spent the last few days doing some Incapacitated Gaming with Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

Made a mystic knight instead of an assassin this time, spent 10 levels as a sorcerer to get their magic boosting augments. Mystic Knight is deceptively strong... the Magic Cannon does piddly damage until you apply a weapon enchant, then it's strong enough to eat bars of the Dragon's life in seconds. And you have enchants on tap, instead of waiting for a pawn. My only complaint is that their stat growth is mediocre, I hope that doesn't gimp me for BBI (which I'm about to head into)

The inventory management is still tedious, but it's not as bad as my first playthrough, you just need to empty your inventory at an inn whenever you get the chance. You don't need to haul around your body weight in curatives if you just play better

Fighting the big Harryhausen/Berserk monsters is so much fun that I wish there were more of them. I'm already impressed with the number of unique monsters the game basically saves for the postgame -- beholders, hydra, cockatrices, etc. -- I almost wish they showed up sooner

i like the game, but the puzzle tentacle boss was assy. my pawns kept on getting stuck fighting the tentacles when i obviously just needed to run past them.

also i have an all female party now by coincidence and we fought some big troll thing and one of my generics said, "the women are making him excited," and "he's turning red with excitement" and i was like 'whatever, just kill the drat thing'

you can put all your dudes in dresses and talk to her, she gives you a quest to kill some of the male bandits that have the magic book for that other quest.

afterwards she gives you an item that makes bandits in northern gransys avoid you which is pretty nice imo.

i took an escort mission to a really far away place (checked the wiki briefly) and had to drag mercedes there. i took a shortcut through a quarry, and mercedes got her poo poo absolutely rocked by an ogre, so i feel like that's not great, but i also got to kill a lot of ogres and a lot of loot and money, which is cool. i think i'm going to tick the main quest over one notch.

a griphon came out of the sky and owned a cart in front of me while i was unable to damage it. then i went to the south to check out a goblin infested fortress and the dragon came down and started owning me while my idiot pawns ran directly into its fire breath while goblins ambushed us as well. it seems like two scripted sequences that weren't supposed to overlap, but did. my main pawn kept shouting at me to shoot its wings, but i'd recently switched from assassin to mage knight (which seems sort of assy) and couldn't do anything as it routinely owned my pawns and i occasionally hit its glowing weak point. i'm going to change my class back to assassin and try that part again, i guess.

that's totally normal, that dragon just hangs out there with his goblin pals. it's not the dragon who ate your heart.

only the first thing of those is scripted. the other one you just happened to find a boss monster, just like when you run across cyclopes or chimera or whatever else.

and you totally can damage that gryphon. It always flies off immediately anyway, but i'm pretty sure you can still kill it if you're overpowered enough by that point in the game to take all its health in the few seconds that it's on the ground
