you need money to develop a game and ideally early access is a way to give people a demo of what they paid for, and the influx of funds would spur development what devs actually do is leave their game in early access for 2+ years and very gradually trickle out content in case people start thinking no ones home

the new UT is hardly in alpha so its hard to say. also the whole community-run thing means it'll probably stay that way for years

i gotta agree w/ kazvall, quake 3's just a better game overall but UT is better for laughs and casual fun. the mutators especially make it feel like a kind of FPS smash bros

tbh theyve done a really good job patching up diablo 3 and sc2 for free but thats more an apology for their original states than anything
