One of the important guys started the inquiry by basically musing "Hey, wasn't it really loving cold that day? Like below-freezing-the-coldest-launch-ever-attempted cold?" though he knew it was an ORing failure.

Likewise, a lot of disaffected engineers, software programmers and people involved in QC meticulously led him towards avenues of questioning that they had concerns about -- (like NASA's 1 in 10,000 failure rate for Shuttle missions, which was really more like 1/50-1/100).

Several Southern states were very strongly African American up until ~1910 or so.

I don't know what the Polish attitude towards gay rights was back then. IIRC homosexual activity was legal since the 30s (except during the period of occupation) with the same age of consent as heterosexual activity, but it is very likely that he would have faced some unique challenges from the society of the time. Depending on his desire to conform, he may not have had a wife and child back in Poland, so it may pushed him down the priority list to travel back home after the war was over.

Probably about the same, since Johnson didn't do much and after 66 he was overruled by the Radical Republicans at every turn (and nearly impeached).

What would a "the Soviet Union wins the Cold War" scenario look like? How does the United States "collapse" via political and socioeconomic turmoil without the Soviet Union ever having fired a shot in anger?

"It's the economy, stupid" doesn't win against "Keep us safe from the looming soviet juggernuat", and HW defeats Clinton for a second term but replaces Quayle with Buchanan, and continues on a path of saber rattling and economic ruin. A bitter primary in 96 results in Buchanan getting the nomination over Dole through increased fear mongering. Buchanan looks set to lose by a healthy margin to Jerry Brown in the general, due to a populace that's sick of increasingly paranoid "Keeps us safe" rhetoric, but the bombing of the Atlanta olympics is pinned on Richard Jewell, who is accused of being a communist, and the TWA Flight 800 crash, which is also blamed on soviet agents, and the election swings narrowly to Buchanan, who enters office with a record low approval rating. In 1998 an independent investigation finds that Rudolph was responsible for the Olympic Park bombing, which calls TWA flight 800 into question, and an independent investigation there reveals that it was mechanical failure. Buchanan is impeached, but not convicted, leads to massive nationwide congressional recall elections and calls for a new continental congress, which convenes in 2000, and completely reorganizes the United States

The Council of Jerusalem doesn't focus on dicks. P/Saul doesn't write to the Galatians, and his ideas on the proper development of the church don't gel with actual documented Jesusisms. Instead of becoming a separate entity, Judaic Christianism becomes a reform sect.
