Australia also has very strict rules on replicas. Only the Northern State allows airsoft guns to be owned with the appropriate firearms license....but they banned paintball guns instead.

It seems like the Australian government just has a really tenuous grasp on what a "gun" is and are just making things up as they go along so nobody notices their confusion.
