 Detective Comics 857 JH Williams III's covers for the 'Elegy' storyline (Detective 854-860) are the only comics I have framed on my wall. Certainly the New 52 series suffered without Rucka's writing but the covers are even better than Elegy's in my opinion:

Marvel briefly tried to bring them back in the late 90s I think.

Ms. Marvel homaged the cover of that Supergirl #1 from the 90s. It's a recent one but I think it made a solid impression. I wouldn't be surprised to see other covers use it in the future.
