My mom was accepted to UCLA's school of architecture, but because that poo poo would have been gently caress you expensive she got a physics degree at the local college. She says that all through school, girls were just interested in mechanical and structural things the way she was much less often than the boys. She mentioned something else, probably from her time student teaching, about trying to have an all girl classroom at a kindergarten or some poo poo build little robots and, save one or two in each group, most of the girls didn't give a gently caress unless they got to decorate the robots. I would like to know how YOSPOS feels about this opinion.

fwiw the women programmers i've met are good programmers and nice people and i wouldn't mind more women in the profession, even bad programmer and/or not nice person ones they could hardly make things worse

i see quite a few stem job ads that specify they will give preference to women where possible, it's good imo there are no women in my lab of about 15 people, a woman applied for the last job we posted and we had to borrow a female interviewer from another department to sit on the panel lol. it's bad
