/r/starcitizen members will actually believe this is doctored.

Is there news on the front regarding whether and why Wulf Knight is in house arrest?

Ben Lesnick is looking a lot better these days. I'd still shave the neck beard a good deal higher, but his longer side-part haircut and slightly thinner-trimmed beard frame his face much better. That combined with a wardrobe that actually fits him is really improving his image. It's not all that cringeworthy anymore.

Still fat as gently caress, but its a lot more professional and thus presentable.

Ludicrous G. Gibs posted:

Crowdfunding in the form it's taken relies on backers taking precisely the opposite stance, and that's been fueled by years of the enthusiast press pushing the narrative that Poor, Starving Game Developers are Being Oppressed by Giant, Evil Publishing Conglomerates. It was only a matter of time before someone saw that as the moneymaking opportunity that it was, and if it wasn't Tim Schaeffer it would have been someone else.

The combined efforts of a sizable portion of enthusiasts to squelch any dissent for the first couple years of the trend made plenty of people in the industry very, very rich while not producing the critical mass of awesome games one might expect. There are plenty of solid crowdfunded games, don't get me wrong, but it hasn't been a revolution, more of a surprise when we get something great like Pillars of Eternity or FTL. Today, people are slowly but surely tiring of being asked for money in exchange for the opportunity to wait and see. The Giant, Evil Publishing Conglomerates aren't looking half bad these days.

It is interesting to see that this fear from three years ago in this very thread -- that SC and other crowdsourced "meh"-grade games would see exactly the cooling effect observed -- has been partially vindicated in favor of publishers.
