Star Citizen's who haven't requested refunds in general need help. Those that are continually pledging to the greater good of the Church need even more. But its a fantastic show from the pews here.

http://www.pcgamesn.com/star-citizen/star-citizen-as-a-star-studded-single-player-space-story-squadron-42-explainedquote:What could possibly be worth $93 million? Well, think of it this way: Cloud Imperium now have a scan of Gary Oldman doing duckface. Somewhere on record there’s a Gary Oldman grimacing; a Gary Oldman pouting; a Gary Oldman pulling his jaw back into his face so that the tendons in his neck stick out. Thanks to Ryse veterans 3lateral, the Star Citizen studio now have a tool that allows them to do with Gary Oldman’s face what we did with Mario’s back on the N64, pulling it this way and that like Oscar-nominated putty. Se ya'll in the verse quote:“It’s almost like our beta,” Roberts explains. “With the Large World stuff we basically have the ability for people to go in there, play stuff and tell us what they like what they don’t like.”

Lead Technical Designer. I have a feeling he left because CR didn't let him do his job. Just like the rest of the other high level producers / leads. One thing that's killing the project is CR's ego and not listening to people who are clearly smarter than him in areas he's employing them for.

Sillybones posted:On this, what are examples of engines that do 64-bit for everything and are performant? I can't imagine aiming for current gen fidelity while pushing all that extra data around. I've never worked on 64 bit engines before, only 32 bits (which is more than enough if you're being casually efficient). As layman as I can get: Cryengine is a book with 32 words per page, now suddenly it becomes a book with 64 words per page. Once you do that, the formatting on the older pages run, or you get spaces that aren't supposed to be there, and the entire book reads like a children's school project. So every page will need to be scrutinized, reread, rewritten, reformatted. So where Iffonic comes in is they have written this chapter with 32 words of text per page, and saying "Hey, we're done!". They try to merge it and everything doesn't work.

Sillybones posted:(I programmed an engine, I am asking because I am lazy. Sorry) I tried to make a game and ended up failing miserably. Realized that I'm better off enjoying and playing them rather than making them. Well, I think CR hired some very competent engineers to make sure the conversion happened effortlessly (reuse of assets, maps, scripts, various internal libraries). My guess is whatever Illfonic used to make Star Marine was too rigid (probably relying on their own libraries / code too much and not so much on SC's own libraries (if at all)) and caused this delay. And adversely SC was waiting for Illfonic's code to be implemented with their main trunk. There should be a bunch of guys in crunch trying to convert the code Illfonic built to use the 64 bit functions of the new StarEngine (whatever its called). CRs' dream is to build real world "actual spaces" and not trying to cheat his way in making a spacegame, its legit, I've to give him that.
