I don't really care about TMNT as a franchise, I just want a proper co-op Platinum game and TMNT is the obvious choice for such a game so I'm glad it's happening. I do wish Activision would bring these games to Wii U, though; it'd be nice to have all these games on the same console as W101/Bayo.

There was a Nier concert recently with some fresh footage of Nier Automata. For now it was just a bit of messing around with developer tools, but it's nice to know they're working on it. TMNT's out or in the process of coming out depending on where you are, it's not very good and it'll be even worse if you can't/don't want to play online with competent players. Korra was cheap and unremarkable but I had no hopes for it and didn't care about the license so it wasn't a big deal when it turned out to be dull, but this one stings. It feels just similar enough to Anarchy Reigns that I wish they'd just done a straight reskin instead of loving it up with awful AI partners and boring ultra-tanky bossfights and the rest.

Jesus christ, why does TMNT have a 30 fps lock? How is that acceptable anymore? I was really hoping for more Platinum goodness on PC. MGR and Transformers were loving great. Vanquish PC has not been confirmed. TMNT may (better) have an unlocked framerate on PC but it's not as if the combat is deep enough for it to really matter. edit: oh, it doesn't. well fuuuuuuck that TMNT game loop: wander around in a big empty boxy level (or just a big corridor) with your AI buddies, trigger missions like "defeat x enemies" or "protect a thing for x minutes while the AI tries to fight all the enemies for you", beat enough missions to unlock the boss fight, wail on the big dumb unflinching MMO boss for-loving-ever, rinse/repeat for a few hours. It's very clearly tuned for 4p online play and I can't imagine the harder difficulties would be worth persevering with on your own because the AI sucks and the bosses are seriously tedious. The combat is much simpler than a typical Platinum game: light/heavy mashy strings, dodge offset and a parry that works by retreating into your shell and then popping out just as the enemy attack connects which is kinda fun. The turtles all feel very similar and aren't nearly as differentiated as Transformers. edit: oh, and you have limited continues per level, so if you die to the boss a few times you have to restart the entire level. Jeez, what a disappointment. I was hoping for Transformers: Devastation quality game at least. I liked it enough to complete 5 playthroughs of it.

Scalebound footage they showed at E3 looked soooooo bad. Could Scalebound be the console exclusive and Nier Automata be the one that comes out on PC as well? Nier game looks like an actual Platinum game.

Yeah that looked awful. On the other hand giant bosses are always the weakest part of character action games gameplay-wise (but the strongest spectacle-wise) because they ignore most of the mechanics that make fighting normal enemies fun.

I really hope that Platinum gets to keep enough autonomy and resources to make more great games like Vanquish and MGR, and not just labor on squirting out a TMNT or Korra quality game every two months.
