Cowboy coffee is totally fine if the grounds are fine and you let it settle out properly. But the total effort is basically the same as using a French/aero press so just use a French/aero press.

In case anybody is still confused, in vietnam you can get something called "egg coffee" and it's delicious. Made by whipping egg yolk with sweet condensed milk, which is another vietnamese coffee staple. Sounds weird, is weird, tastes great.
