Which is probably why the Emperor is also good, it's the same guy from before doing the character and thus having more to go on than just the directions of Lucas. Christopher Lee could probably deliver depth and craft to the impromptu reading of a Latin dictionary.

Hayden Christensen does some honestly interesting things with the role and it's a shame he had zero support from the script.
