You can go full-retard and impulse buy one of these like an rear end in a top hat: http://www.deoriamade.com/products/small-maple-block-with-dots

No regrets.

I have a big old island that I want to keep an end grain cutting board on and also an unrelated meat grinder (can be KA attachment but I recall those get hot fast.) For the cutting board I wouldn't mind supporting some dude rather than a factory.

Deoria Made makes some really nice cutting boards.

Empty jam jar! Make mayo directly in it, throw the lid on and put it in the fridge.

I have a huge marble one I bought in Vietnam. It's pretty rough marble, and not at all polished. How difficult would it be to get polished (on the outside) do you think? Can I just sand this stuff?

My most recent 'I spent way too much on this' kitchen purchase was a Deoria Made cutting board. It's thick as hell but it has little rubber feet which make it much easier to move around because you can get your fingers underneath it. The downside is that it's not reversible. I do not regret this purchase.

Does anyone have an immersion blender they would particularly recommend? I seems there a few good options but I'd love it if someone gave a solid rec for theirs

Bamix for life.

I've had one of these for the past year or two and it's been great:

They've got another model that goes down to an accuracy of .01g if you need it (you don't).

I'm moving to the US in a few weeks and will need new appliances. I currently have a Bamix and a Kenwood MultiPro FP920 and I love them both, but they are both getting left behind due to the power difference.

I already know I want a Vitamix. Is there a stick blender that won't make me miss my Bamix? SymmetryrtemmyS suggested Magimix for food processors so I'm checking those out.
