Corek posted:The CG style is the same as it was for the cutscenes in 2002, if anything Warcraft influenced those guys. And somehow not as convincing looking. And that is a lot of empty space in that screenshot.

Jean Eric Burn posted:This will probably be the most focus group driven production in human history. "We have some notes here. Fred, your hat is, and I quote, 'a nice hat' so we'll be reshooting some scenes to make sure you're wearing it. Steve, you have, and i'm quoting 'kind of a dick face' and so we'll be trying to fix that in post."

I'm willing to cut it some slack because we're still six months away and context is pretty drat important, but still, gently caress. I just realised something. Is this the first game based movie to be based on a PC only series? (aside from one of the Warcraft games briefly popping up on playstation) all the others have been console mainstays. EDIT: that second shot is just terrible. Like, not from a special effects point of view, but just from a cinematography point of view. All the empty space makes it look like a town meeting, not a coronation. Like, that's a level of visual literacy that TV shows like Game of Thrones and Spartacus have that's missing here.

Terrorist Fistbump posted:There was a Company of Heroes film adaptation a few years back, which one of my friends swears I've seen, but I don't believe him because I remember nothing about it. I think it just used the name. Then again, how would you tell? The game's story is just "There were some guys in world war 2, here's some stuff they did."

Corek posted:The sitting elves etc. on the right have a huge artificial drop shadow all around them in particular. It's at a slightly different angle for every group. Goddamn. This is almost as bad as those Terminator shots.

Corek posted:The soldiers on the left and right are facing the same direction, but the ones on the left are parallel to the shadow while the ones on the right have their shadows to their side. How close is the sun in this universe, 50 feet away? "We shoot with set, no mickey mouse stuff. Real Hollywood"

MisterBibs posted:I feel like I'm being shitposterty, but I wish I could see what mind boggling terrible thing(s) you guys are seeing. The movie ain't going to be good, but those shots look fine to me. It's a crowd of what looks like a small village watching a coronation attended by people who borrowed their costumes at the last minute in front of a sun that's about 20 metres away and isn't sure where it is.

Immortan posted:Oh no, the shadows! Will thy not hold out for the script, thou virile goon? Really? The script? These are the images they want to use to get people excited, and they're images where the guys holding the lights couldn't decide where to loving stand, and nobody noticed and you think the script is going to redeem it? The script will be "There are some Orcs/Orks/Oruks, let's go fight them" and that's fine. The good bit will be how good it looks when that happens, and not knowing how lights work does not bode well. In story telling, that's called foreshadowing. But yeah, I should wait for the script. "I mean, there was that one scene in the forest where John appeared to be under water but Bill, right next to him, was a cell phone, but the dialogue in that bit just sparkled."
