My first foray into this dumb dead game

I already hate painting white after one model. Next up on my table is a Red Butcher though which is a much cooler model.

I love how much the 3d printing community has embraced the 30k stuff... Some Mk4 tac Marines, a Mhara Gal, some Gal Vorbak, That Bitch Erebus, a regular chaplain, and Lorgar himself... My 30k army is coming along! Now I just need to catch up with painting before I print more.

First test paint for my WB boys. The red highlighting does look as... Contrasty, in person. But even still I may tone it down on the other models.

The rumored contents:

"Age of Darkness - The Horus Heresy" Launch Box:
As known, the Box will have the following content:
- 40 MkVI Marines
- 10 Cataphract Terminators

- 1 Imperial Fist Castellan
- 1 Sons of Horus / Trainer Praetor

Yeah they're doing a big open house in May to show off the box and contents and rules and have open gaming and stuff, so it's GOTTA be around then.

I spoke with one of the developers of the new edition yesterday and they commented that they’ve starting play testing the phase 1 rules the same time they were working on the last black book. And that all the phase one legion rules are busted as hell. So prepare for your army to suck rear end traitor players

Isn't play testing on phase 3 now though? At least the phase 3 rules are the ones that have leaked

After noodling around for ages, I think I'm finally settling on the following list for DG to start out around 1500 points:

[Pride of the Legion ROW]
Praetor warlord in Tartaros armor, with all the fixins (lasers, harness, mastercraft, iron halo), power scythe
Contemptor Dreadnought w/ CCW and Kheres Assault Cannon (heavy flamer in the fist with chem munitions)
Deathshroud Termies x5 with melta bombs in a Land Raider
Vet Tac Squad x10 w/ 2 chem flamers in a Rhino
Vet Tac Squad x10 w/ 2 chem flamers in a Rhino
Heavy Support Squad x5 with missile launchers

Marshal Prolapse posted:

For previous Horus heresy players is there a reason the rule books look so huge? Is it basically because it’s a rule book, but with things that would otherwise be separate codex’s for the main 40K line?

There's a rulebook, and then there's a book for Loyalist and Heretic Astartes. So, think of each of those as the base Space Marine codex + additional lore and rules for each of the 9 legions in each one.

...granted, even so, they look huge.
