I thought that music halfway was starting to sound familiar, then god drat, they really did it.
I assume we missed some kind of reference there...?

Also...

Part 25: FINALE

That's all, everyone. I wish we had a savestate from just before the high school to do the one thing we missed in there, but unfortunately for some reason the only one we have is from the end screen. It will take a bit of time to recoup after this game anyway. It was a ton of fun but it's also a ton of grinding.

That said, River City Ransom has definitely become one of my favorite games. Regardless of the ending, the mechanics and balancing are brilliant, and the combinations of events that can occur just by grinding the core loop are surprisingly diverse. Also I hate to get sentimental over a game about beating up kids, but drat, the moment I saw that end screen I was already to starting to miss this game. What a rollercoaster.

If any of y'all have ideas for future series, we'd be happy to put them on our list; we definitely don't intend to stop running this channel anytime soon. I'll be sure to post our new series in this subforum, but in the meantime if you could subscribe over on YouTube that would make us really happy.

Thanks for sticking around, everyone!

(Thought-ful Croak)
My first time beating Simon/Slick was equally anti-climactic as I beat him to death in the corner with a trash can/grand slam combo.

Anyway, the Dragon Twins are the real final boss, Simon is the victory lap.

Okay, I should add in that I enjoyed the LP overall, not sure what you should tackle next, but I'll be interested to see it. Maybe something on the more modern end? Maybe with a bit more story in it?

Iunno, I likey, keep doing.

I suggest Downtown Nekketsu Koushinkyoku: Soreyuke Daiundoukai
http://www.gamefaqs.com/nes/579705-downtown-nekketsu-koushinkyoku-soreyuke-daiundoukai
This game also has a recent Steam version River City Super Sports Challenge ~All Stars Special~ http://store.steampowered.com/app/326340/

I also suggest Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu aka Riki Kunio
http://www.gamefaqs.com/nes/581215-nekketsu-kakutou-densetsu
This game has a translated fan remake on PC

But if you want to stay away from beat-em-up then I suggest Mystical Ninja on the SNES for 2 players

I moved Simon up the list of names I will use for future characters. No need to fight Slick since he was under control of Simon. What epic ending did you expect for an NES title?

Play Super Mario Bros. 3 and all its stages.

I really liked watching you guys play this game. Looking forward to whatever you do next. It was so annoying to grind money for items and skills with no idea what they did. Still a fun game. Whenever my friend and I used to play one of us would kill the other accidentally and it would devolve into trying to "accidentally" get revenge. We got really good at fighting the gangs while dodging random thrown pipes and kicked boxes.

Ohhhhhh welp that's another game on our list then! I've only ever seen the arcade version, and even that was when I was like 10, so that should be interesting.

I guess just a tougher fight would've been nice. Like somewhere between "Was that all?!" and "Ninja Goddamn Gaiden."

If it wasn't for our audience throwing tips at us here and in YouTube comments, this would've been my biggest complaint in the game I think. I want to think that the game's original manual came with at least some hints on how the items and the stats worked, but maybe I'm being naive? I was totally not into NES as a kid and Nintendo Power was certainly not a thing in Hungary but I've learned there's tons of games from that era that had deliberately hidden poo poo so you'd buy the magazine.

Thank you for the kind words and game suggestions, everyone! Looking forward to playing some of these games in the future. We haven't yet decided what we're starting next, but in the meantime maybe you could check out our other series (we're finishing up Duke Nukem 3D right now and there's something special coming for our 100th video).

A Ninja Gaiden crossover would be boss.

You can play the Half-Life games in coop on Sven-Coop. You will have to do some things to play the expacs.
