Gonna zoom in to defend all the women who have PCOS because I can't help it. PCOS is a hormonal imbalance that gives a significant portion of it's sufferers insulin resistance. Our bodies relationship with food is hosed up. A lot of women with PCOS find they have a much lower metabolic rate and instead of eating 1500 calories to be a reasonable weight while active, it's more like 1200, some even go under 1000 with medical supervision. That's not to say her eating habits aren't terrible. They in all likelihood are, but it becomes more of a battle with yourself when you have screwed up hormones to contend with too. It's a vicious cycle, because often the cure for the hormonal imbalance is weight control, but as the two feed themselves its easy to get trapped. It's actually a really depressing syndrome to have. It basically slaps us with being prone to a bunch of unfeminine physical traits (extra hair, balding, orbital obesity, acne) as well as a high risk of infertility.

So "fat and hairy" to "probably PCOS" isn't too much of a stretch. Excess body hair is actually one of the very first things doctors will look for when assessing/testing for PCOS.
