and this is why carbon taxes are a scam and a death sentence on the poor/third world. remember when obama told africans that they will never get to own a car or have AC because that would cause the planet to overheat? we should be trying to elevate the living standards of our fellow man and pull him up to our level not the opposite

You folks are so brainwashed you are litteraly begging your globalist overlords to force you to reduce your living standards and tax you into oblivion. Its disgusting how the radical far left has hijacked the green movement to push their sick and twisted authoritarian communist anti human agenda. (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)

The problem with such a system is that on top of creating even more wealth inequality it would have to imposed by force by an authoritarian goverment. Climate justice warriors rarely take into account the actual will and desires of the people. Who the hell wants to live the life of a poor subsistence farmer who cant even get out of the ten mile radius he was born in because transportation is only for the very rich. Its like that UN guy who said humans will have to get used to eating insects!?? Hellll no im not going

wether you believe the effects of global warming would cause more harm to the human race than ending energetic freedom, i think we can all agree that carbon taxes and similar measures are a scam and a huge wealth transfer from the poorest and most vulnerable elements of our society towards mega corporations. I find it funny when people compare climate realism to cigarette companies denying the harmful effects of their products. I mean if you follow the money you would see that it is very much on the green side of things. ie: ontario privatising its hydro electrical network, jacking up its prices 6x and forbidding the use of natural gaz, all in the name of the glorious agenda 21.

Anos posted:The poor use less carbon than the non-poor. Carbon taxes would mainly hit the suburbs and create an incentive for industries to do things differently. Carbon taxes are regressive and would cost a much larger % of a poor persons income than of a rich individal. Also they are a litteral death sentence for the third world. They also encourage monopolies and crony dealings.

quote:The Google.org study found that through electric car breakthroughs as a result of investment in green tech and carbon pricing, household energy bills (electric plus transportation fuel) would decrease 53% by 2050, by approximately $950 per year. Now thats exactly what im talking about. google stands to profit immensely from electric car subsidies and carbon taxes as they are about to start selling electric self driving vehicles. dont be fooled

The best part about trump winning is that well finally see some opposition to the eco-tyranny being pushed by the U.N. The peoples have spoken we don't want micro apartments we dont want to live in car free cities and we dont want to eat insects. Carbon taxes are a death sentence for the third world and trump might actually save millions of lives if he manages to sabotage the Paris agreement. This is a huge step forward for humanity. Basically what we should do is try to empower and enrich third world nations so that if the poo poo really hits the fan and their surroundings become unlivable, they have the means to pack up and go somewhere cooler. I live in quebec and we have 2 carbon taxes (provincial and federal) even though every year since the beginning of times we emit a negative amount of co2 in the atmosphere. Were paying out the rear end to offset american and Chinese greenhouse gazes and all the funds are squandered/gifted to huge corporations. "Climate justice" is the biggest ponzi scheme of all time. listen bro based on your own propaganda unless we achieve massive economic degrowth and deindustrialization the world is still gonna turn into a new venus and that itself would kill a huge number of people so since were hosed either way, we might as well try to empower the people who are in the most precarious positions.

Uranium Phoenix posted:Deindustrialization is not necessary. I just talked about how one major way to combat climate change is to create jobs and build things like nuclear power plants--meaning the encouragement of industry. Neither is "degrowth" necessary. Since you seem to be assuming the only way climate change can be stopped is by causing harm, if you can't actually back up that stopping climate change will cause harm (and it doesn't have to; I just showed how solutions to climate change could be extremely beneficial), the rest of your argument isn't supported. carbon taxes are regressive and disproportionately burden the poor. anyone who is barely surviving right now will be wiped out and thats a lot of people. now you'll probably reply that this problem can be solved with wealth transfers! unfortunately knowing the U.N they would probably use that money to build more coal plants. I would be for these things if the money could be sent directly to the people and not wasted/stolen/used to finance what they pretend to be fighting.

we don't know what will happen, it could go both ways really. the thing is, a lot more people die from cold weather than from extreme heat. Considering this, coupled with the fact that global warming would greatly increase our food production potential, climate change could in fact save millions of lives.

If I end up dying of a heart attack before the collapse, that's great! cheer up bro, climate change alarmism is propaganda meant to demoralize you to set up worldwide mass austerity and taxation. go read up on the climate gate scandal it's all a scam and a fraud. now go have a whole bunch of children and go smoke a ton of weed and be happy life is great

I know and it has been proven again and again that a lot of these reports are fake science or based on rigged parameters and models. were either 100% doomed or this is all natural and the earth has mechanisms to balance its temperature out or maybe it doesn't and were still doomed. either way dont tread on me

Once we get the proper carbon sinking technology well be able to suck all the co2 out of the atmosphere. We wont have to slow anything down or reduce emmissions. And only then will we find out if CO2 is really responsible for climate change.

thank god he withdrew from the paris agreement. i remember being so anxious and angry during the COP 21. The future was looking very grim. Trump was the only light at the end of the tunnel, the only glimmer of hope for a planet and its 7 billions inhabitant. He said NO to the unelected corporate banking combine and their carbon taxes (which are a loving DEATH SENTENCE for the third world) and for this he will go down in history as a great savior of mankind. Its also a lot quicker than public transport. I never understood the hate for cyclists. Bicycles are a private mean of transportation that has like no cost to society. The real enemy is public transport in which governments funnel insane amounts of taxpayer money and build all kinds of exclusive lanes and bridges where cars are banned. I think most of the bike haters are actually pissed off at the war on cars and are misdirecting that anger towards innocent cyclists who are often too poor to buy a vehicle.
