Just a little bit of sunshine!

Yeah, but he did also lie to everyone about Samantha being crazy that one time, because he wanted to sleep with Audrey. Which led to the whole group being kidnapped, drugged, almost made permanently insane, and having to murder a whole civilization* in order to avoid being butchered. Really is kind of a pattern with the dude!

Maybe there's a really popular celebrity, Jenny Betrayal or something, so every time someone says "but he betrayed me!" they instantly think of a catchy pop tune and have a hard time staying mad.

"Really? Well, I'm sure it's for the best. Hopefully Hank makes a full recovery.")

"Are you sad? Yes. Because of Lyndon" describes more than half of the comic at this point

Klara might be making up monsters to mess with Lyndon, but they're all plausible in the Thorsbyverse. And so is the peach cake war.

edit: he fixed the typo so unfortunately the peach cake war is no longer canon

Oh wait, so, the scepter can include a simulation within itself, but only one level deep? And it unloads everything on you, not just your own perspective, so Lyndon's going to be standing there overwhelmed and get got by the shadow ape?

Technically, it might go n+1 deep and we have been in iteration n from the start. But otherwise it's pretty unlikely.

Klara is really smooth there.

trying to talk myself out of a "kentucky shark" ending being possible.

someone wouldve had to touch the scepter unsuccessfully and then survive, for that to feasibly be a twist ending right, i don't think that happened. unless of course it can be activated by touching a tree or some poo poo

Lyndon would know at that point that he's in a simulation, but the question is how would he know he triggered the simulation, or if he is in someone else's simulation?

No he wouldn't. He only remembers the split second before Audrey stabbed him with a snake, and they were indoors then and not talking about stars going out, so he wouldn't remember anything about the meaning behind it.

I was assuming that the first simulation would be higher quality and provide more complete information (as that would be the whole point of the scepter) and that only the second layer simulations were limited. I didn't base this on anything except what would make an easier to wrap up ending though.

Thorsby should do a remastered version of that story and just replace the protagonist with Lyndon: everything else would play out exactly the same.

It's not really a bummer, it's a message to the audience. One potential future is what happens when society goes the barbarism route, the other when it goes the socialism route. It's your choice which ending you get, it's you who touches the scepter.
