King Naram Sin of Chaldea, 3800 years B.C., We have fallen upon evil times and the world has waxed very old and wicked. Politics are very corrupt. Children are no longer respectful to their parents. I bet somewhere there's a cave painting showing kids with their lazy spears and pit traps unlike the good old days Edit: huh on some googling it looks like that quote was made up around 1908 or something. Still shows people have been saying this poo poo forever though. Darkhold has a new favorite as of 10:21 on Feb 20, 2016 |

One of the earliest groups to be called Mafia in the US was the Black Hand extortion ring which would beat or straight up murder you if you didn't pay their demands (you were pretty much picked at random). The honorable Mafia thing is just nonsense. Sure they'll do something here or there to keep up an image just like some current gangs will send their members to work in soup kitchens or have a free Xmas dinner or something. It's a wafer thin covering. Edit: Seems I'm kinda wrong Black hand is just the name of the type of extortion not the name of the group. Same point though. Little late on the Flat Earth chat there's a few Biblical references that strongly imply a flat Earth (four corners of earth, people seeing all of earth from a high spot etc) so there's a few crazy sects that believe round earth is a scientific conspiracy like evolution aimed at disproving the Bible. Just for those that were wondering why anyone would think there'd be a conspiracy about making the earth round. Of course there's also straight up schizophrenics that see a conspiracy in everything anyway.

Incoming toenail story. In my teens I developed horrible ingrown toenails on both my big toes. I tried everything (well except for dog slobber I guess). Cut them out myself, several doctors give me various things to try that didn't do anything, had another doctor tear them out with pliers after injecting my toe about 20 times with painkiller that didn't work. You know what did work? Going to an actual podiatrist who after two injections made two small cuts on the side and then killed the growth plate with a mild acid. Now I have normalish looking toenails and not in pain with every step I take. Damnit people go to specialists for these things. They shockingly fix the problem unlike DIY dog spit. Before anyone asks the reason I was only going to general practitioners was because I was living in a small town at the time and we didn't have a podiatrist without travelling about 100 miles. It was so worth it I wish I would have earlier.

There could be good reasons for leaving behind women and living as a troll under a bridge. I live in an area that went 70% brexit and pretty much all of them did it because of racism and the delusion that this would somehow mean more money for them. Pretty sure this is going to harm my job and possibly end up in my site closing down in a few years added with this area has poo poo for money and probably was one of the areas getting most of that EU money back anyway.

Picnic Princess posted:I remember a Chick Tract that had a plane going down and some devout Christians who went on missions their entire lives and worked for charities went to hell because they didn't repent, yet a murderer in transfer between prisons went to heaven because he repented. Some people really believe that. No matter what you do in life, as long as you repent on your deathbed, you're guaranteed a spot in paradise! If you want to check it out yourself Here you go the plane part is only the first half. The rest is explaining just why grace is the only way to go. Really we're just all dogshit to this version of God only fit for hellfire unless we accept Jesus into our hearts. Nothing else matters at all.

In the first book of the series the First Wizard gives the hero a lecture about how evil is a matter of perspective and that if you're not careful you can be as evil as those you fight. I always thought the series would have been interesting if at the end they looked back and realised they were villains they were just fighting men even eviler than they were. Sadly that is not what happens. All of the horrible things they do often for little to no reason is always treated as justified as the libertarian superman just fighting the good fight against communists.

My name is a common word that's misspelled and not typically a name. No personalised novelty named items for me. Other than that it hasn't really effected my life or employment (well as far as I know). I do have to constantly spell it out. Occasionally people also just seem to rename me because they mishear and apply the closest 'real' name to what they heard or just being confused. I don't even correct them it's not worth the hassle. It used to be tedious to go through the whole 'oh I've never heard that name before' every time I met someone new or people constantly mispronouncing it.

I used to hang out with a friend and his wife that'd smoke and offer. I found 'no thanks' to be fine. Well aside from when his dealer was over. I made that guy super nervous and he'd always leave the room and only deal in a room I wasn't in. Bit if a dumbass if I was really a narc I doubt 'oh he walked three feet into the other room and sold it openly without even bothering to close the door' would be a successful strategy to avoid arrest. Surprised he didn't ask me if I ever took a government paycheck.
