Our Reasons thus far are "nothing", "no weakness", and "nobody else". It's weird how they all start with the world as it was and then take stuff away.

I have to say, you don't often see people complain about the march of technology, think about where it all went wrong, and then decide that yep, humanity should never have tamed fire.

Yes. Yes we are afraid. Afraid of all these things.

Why wouldn't we be? They would all be terrible things to happen. We can't pretend they don't exist. We can't pretend they can't affect us. We can't pretend we are above it. If we did, well...

We've seen what would happen if we did. None of those are the person we want to be.

What's the difference between what happened to Francis and what's happening to, say, Isamu and Chiaki?

I suppose he's already taken most of the good stuff out of it.

I'm pretty sure Manikins can't find their own Reason. For all that this whole affair is supposedly about people finding their own Reasons, the caches of Magutsushi each seem to favor certain approaches.

And the Manikins' role is to hold onto Magutsushi until someone with a Reason that involves breaking their faces rolls up and steals it.

Dante recruitment is hotly contested, yes, but he is quite a powerhouse for the period you can acquire him and his permanent residence in a demon slot is nothing when you consider how fusion-happy this game encourages you to be at this point in the story. That said, my actual favourite aspect of his recruitment would have to be (minor Devil May Cry series spoilers to follow) that if you recall when Nocturne was made and the character design, this is actually Devil May Cry 2 Dante specifically, and the fact that he uses that coin which always comes up heads is both a plot point and a characterization gimmick. The fact that it makes an appearance in this game is hilarious, but also appropriate and a sign that they actually cared about inserting unique elements of his characterization into the narrative for his cameo.

So if you pick tails, does he do a magician's force? "Right, the other side is heads, looks like you just owe me 1 Macca"?

Forget the candelabra, though. Why has everybody been collecting enough demon bugs to give us a regular holiday chocolate sampler of the things?

:eng101: Interesting note: Ahriman is the Zoroastrian god of evil. I mean, there's not even the confluence of weird alternate takes and depiction surrounding Lucifer. He's just straight up the worst possible being that could ever exist. Which says a lot about how much of a jerk Hikawa is. He's also semi-common in SMT. His counterpart, Ahura Mazda is basically god and weirdly has shown up a total of twice. And when he did appear, he for some reason was cursed to become Asura and was working for Lucifer.

...you'd think that in Hikawa's many mystic investigations he'd uncover that he was planning to work with the legendary dimensional worst thing in the universe. What, did he think it got a bad rap from myth-writers?

Also, in a genre where the hero is generally bedecked in celestial angel armour and the demon blade of double-hell, I appreciate a protagonist who is equipped with 1) pants and 2) shoes, and basically nothing else but goes around beating gods to death with his fists.

If you had to pick out the essential inventions of humankind, pants and shoes would both probably be right up there.
