the ability to skip animations and the fact the AI turns don't make you watch each enemy movement sort of ruined a lot of other tactics games for me

this reminds me of the "All Out" command in an NES capcom RPG called "Destiny of an Emperor" that pretty much just sped along the fight by having your dudes just randomly attack people and cut out all the "DUDE DID X DAMAGE TO Y" messages. I wish more RPGs or other games did stuff like this because it really helps fight off boredom.
