Necronomoticon posted:- bus The bus that services the Palo Alto Caltrain through HP, VMware, etc, randomly does not run at all for entire days. I don't know if that is something up with the VA hospital or just general awesomeness.

Notorious b.s.d. posted:for many years the mta refused to close the subway even while it was being worked on. they would just go down to a single track in service The MTA is so petty they only do this so they can claim they are open 24 hours a day. The only difference between MTA and the Underground is that you can wait 6 or so hours on the platform in New York for the next train.

quote:The MTA has a thankless and extremely difficult job: They have to keep the trains running. They have to do it with equipment from the 1930s, in a hostile funding environment, as administrations come and go, as public interest comes and goes, in the face of storms and accidents and pieces of aluminum foil. This they manage to do. 1.6 billion people every year take the New York subway. The system carries more than 60 percent of all people coming into Manhattan every day. It is, for the most part, safe, affordable, and there. MrMoo fucked around with this message at 19:51 on Mar 5, 2016 |

I was wondering that but they can simply put in a bridge before each entrance that will ensure a crash occurs before meeting the frog bus.

Impressive write up on the beeb too: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-37020906 quote:The Beijing News pointed out that the model used in the latest test run was the same one as six years ago, suggesting the project has made no real technical progress since then. And the model is far from finished as workers were still working on parts of the bus just before the test. The HK MTR has announcements in Cantonese, English and Mandarin, the first two are recordings from the same lady the latter is a different person using the Mandarin Opera tone that is common for official address and it is just weird.

infernal machines posted:problem: pedestrians are getting hit by cars a lot Jaywalking as an offense is understandable in a busy metropolis with hundreds of people waiting to cross but being a dick about it like Toronto in the article helps no one. US cities need to add red lines like London so they can immediately haul vehicles though, the blame is everywhere.
