YOU CAN NOT BUST THE KRUST
There's too many good tracks from Crypt of the Necrodancer. Danny Baranowsky was in top form.

Stone Cold (3-1 Cold)

A Glacial Death (3-3 Cold Remix featuring FamilyJules7x)

:captainpop:

Styx and Stones (4-1)

Konga Conga Kappa

Gotta feature some tracks with the Shopkeeper singing, too:

Disco Descent (1-1 featuring Shopkeeper)

Grave Throbbing (2-2 featuring Shopkeeper)

A Hot Mess (3-3 Hot mix featuring Shopkeeper)

Edit:
FamilyJules7X is an awesome guitarist who covered the entire Necrodancer soundtrack, and uploaded everything to YouTube. It is rad as gently caress.

I was happy to see Dynamite Headdy in the mix, that game captures the candy-coated neon fever dream aesthetic Sega cultivated in the 90's so perfectly, and the music is catchy as hell:

The other contender in my book for that era is Taz in Escape From Mars. Those tracks find their way onto my GM playlist pretty frequently for space games:

For sure. Necrodancer is fantastic all around. I feed it some Mercenary Kings songs too though. It was a mediocre game, but it had a decent soundtrack.

Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune is an arcade game taking the ideas from the Tokyo Extreme Racer series and turning it into an easy to get into and fast paced competitive arcade racer.

All that is good on it's own but it also has greatest soundtrack composed by game music god Yuzo Koshiro.

Seriously check out some of this stuff in this series even if you have no interest in the games.

I'm kind of shocked to see that someone actually posted something from Romancing SaGa. It's a severely underappreciated game, and even now, more than 10 years after its PS2 release, it has the best soundtrack I've heard in a video game. Passionate Rhythm is great, but there are plenty of other choice tracks:

The non-fight music is great too, but I'm not sure it qualifies as "rad as gently caress."

The three roles of APCs:
Transports.
Supply trucks.
Distractions.

Wario Land: Shake It!/The Shake Dimension has a cool soundtrack. Some examples:

Foulwater Falls
Run-Down Pyramid
Stonetooth Cave
Windbreak Bay

Unrelatedly, Shroom Ridge from Mario Kart DS is one of those circuits that really needs remaking for a new Mario Kart - if only so I can get a remix of that bassline :).

From Nier, a really pretty obscure and under rated game. Skip to :45 to get past a bunch of opera vocal stuff
The Vaulters theme from Endless Legend. Really captures the feel of the faction. (gently caress, the whole soundtrack really.)
Catharsis (Glory's theme) from Shadowrun Dragonfall. Another fantastic soundtrack start to finish.

I grew up in Daytona Beach, so these tunes will haunt me until the day I die.

I'm not sure if I "get" this thread but none of my picks are from obscure JRPGs.

Mega Man 3 intro, too obvious? It's kind of a definitive moment for me in video game music.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uxg5W5wKvLE

Diablo 2 Wilderness. A great song, with fantastic drum bits. It actually steps it up a notch at 6:38 or so.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POyePtj6GbQ

Chrono Trigger "World Revolution", again an obvious pick. The music in Chrono Trigger repeats many of the same themes and this song features the hero and villain's themes in opposition, fitting for the penultimate boss battle.
