Do it ironically posted:thats why we're forcing university students to pay for and take an indigenous history class regardless of their major, a great step towards fixing the problem Calling classes like that "history" is being very generous. The world is a turtle, the natives all lived in peace and harmony until the white man came, residential schools and Christianity are the worst crimes imaginable, Canadians owe it to them to fix all their problems. e: all the natives I've met in the military have been pretty chill, so I don't know why the activist crowd is so insufferable or the Reserves are all hosed up.

Cacator posted:IIRC the soldier on the right ended up doing porn After being busted down a rank for a DUI and coke possession. Living the Vandoo dream. A group of Canadian Rangers was on base for training and to re-qualify on the rifle range. It was pretty eye opening, especially in the context of the military. - They had no uniform standard to speak of, despite only needing to wear a red hoodie. - They smoked wherever they drat well pleased and left butts all over the place (which we had to police). - They never marched or called formation but instead kind of wandered haphazardly around. - They didn't seem to have any timings to meet. - In the morning some Rangers were fall-down drunk during breakfast. - The quality of food at the mess was dropped to accommodate them. During their stay the menu consisted mostly of hot dogs, chickenfingers and hamburgers. Frosted Flake fucked around with this message at 22:25 on Nov 25, 2015 |

There's a big push to get natives off-rez and into the military, and I think it's pretty okay actually. http://www.forces.gc.ca/en/jobs-caf-aboriginal/bold-eagle-index.page quote:Meals and accommodation; As much as I dislike the Rangers, every indigenous person I worked with in the CAF-proper has been good at their jobs and for all the issues in the CAF, they seem to integrate pretty well. I had a lot more issues with the French guys, and small-town maritimers who had never seen a Black or Asian person before.

Professor Shark posted:I've heard that those Rangers are magicians with their wooden outdated firearms and could make most trained CAF soldiers look like fools in terms of accuracy... too bad they only seem to use them on themselves and their family I don't see why you can't be a good shot but also have some semblance of discipline and professionalism. You're probably right though, I'm sure they have good fieldcraft if they've lived in the bush their whole lives.
