If I recall correctly, for the foreseeable future of the story, they have to use daily anti-rad injections. In reality getting hit with a dose of high radiation is certainly fatal, but if there were some new nano-bot injection that could repair cellular damage, the minute highly active isotopes that would result from an ambient dose should rapidly go through half lives and clear out. Quite different from a Chernobyl type exposure with fallout materials in the environment entering the body. It's likely the tv show will tighten up the tedium of daily anti-rad treatments to be done within the season arc.
