OP, if you don't go register at least a couple posts in FYAD, the auth system is going to flag you and autokick you from the goon services.

Make sure you get that taken care of ASAP. At this point it may be best to post an introduction thread.

I gravitated towards the Greens, eventually even joining the party itself.

The Linke is a party I grudgingly accept exists, but I've learned enough about DDR-history I can't bring myself to trust a party that was once the SED, a party leading the corrupt state apparatus ...

The Imperium doesn't even rule over the Milkyway absolutely, thanks to the times being really lovely, what are you talking about?

Personal challenge: Getting rich enough to collect an Eldar-army.

Progress report: Still too poor for Warhammer 40k

Stop playing 40k, and sold my poo poo. I could no longer handle people bitching about how good I was at war gaming and always winning, and having half assed paint jobs. Oh and smelling nerds at game shops....

Hah, I couldn't even start! It was expensive enough to half-assedly assemble my Skaven army -and even in Warhammer Fantasy the prices were just obscene. Now that Games Workshop shitcanned my army, I consider myself set free.

The best method for avoiding smelly nerds is buying stuff online, by the way. Most mailmen aren't smelly. But again, the price

But if your someone like me that only played it for competitive reasons, you needed to go to where smelly nerds were to destroy them in dice rolling miniature moving fun.

Yeah, honestly people like you were always on another world compared to that. I just wanted something to collect and paint. I don't even have any materials to play, just some rulebooks and the miniatures.

First-time posts are always gonna be a bitch. I really was wondering, though - from the propaganda information I've encountered so far, it seems that EVE is no longer about galaxy spanning wars and intrigues, and more about the utter domination of one faction over all others. Is there ever likely to be scope for the tables to be turned? Is there ever going to be the potential for seismic upsets in the status quo?
Youtube videos would have folks believe that EVE's big pull is the sheer size and scope of things...But is here any likelihood of some major game changes in the future? Has one force become unassailable?

Yet another violation of regulation 1910 subpart D.
why do you want to play eve

all the cool amazing stories about BoB and stuff happened years ago and the game's really stagnant and dead now isn't it

there's no incredible video game history to be a part of anymore, that stuff already happened

Even when there was stuff to do that poo poo happened after years of buildup and then the thing would happen and then it'd be over in an afternoon

eve is basically like being in the military irl in that you mostly do nothing and then maybe you get to shoot at someone but mostly you just hate yourself and everyone around you the entire time

H1Z1 marketing on EVE website . Mittani paying for it with ingame money to make irl profit (its legal)
The kickstarter book about EVE which failed (due too many reasons , and a whole lot happening around it )
Drama about the reddit , the TMC is filled with rage about the reddit .

This are the main big themes , and around them lots of smaller ones

Yeah but you see this is stupid drama that isn't even really part of the game. EVE is such a boring dead piece of poo poo that the only drama left about it isn't even game related. It's just people arguing on websites (irony-cat, I know).

The BoB war or the great reddit push in the form of TEST were at least fun things that happened in the game. Who gives a gently caress what is happening on the mittani dot com or some stupid kickstarter?

i know people talk about the appeal of eve being the sheer scope of the game but the individual player does not exist on that scale for most people. those events provide a greater context for individual actions which is the appeal of the game.

like that one time i lost a stratios because hole squad set up a gate camp to catch stragglers from a big cap fight and i just got decloaked and hosed by Elo Knight's titan escort fleet. i died horribly but it was hilarious because of that greater context rather than getting mad that i was outnumber by a factor of hundreds

Mux

You know what else is appealing about EVE? The fact that space is full of emptyness, just like modern EVE's content.
