Do you guys normally give hints in the thread in previous years? That can be fun.

Box is going out tonight or early tomorrow. My target apparently loves Sours, but I can't pass up sending some awesome Michigan BA stouts his way...

My box is going out... I'll probably e-mail tracking at some point. Final Hint: While I don't think I've met this goon, I'm almost positive I've seen him at various events over the years - potentially Hunahpu Day or FOBAB or something. He appears to be well traveled for beer events.

I, too, forgot to wrap the bottles. The quality of said bottles will make up for my transgressions.

Apparently I drink way too much Philly beer, but HatfulOfHollow absolutely killed it with this box: Corb3t fucked around with this message at 22:52 on Dec 17, 2015 |

HatfulOfHollow posted:I was so stoked to pack a box then I started going through your untappd and I was like WTF?!?!?! Your Philly connection is taking care of you because you'd already had most of the stuff I originally set aside. I seriously had to scrounge to come up with a box. It doesn't hurt that I chipped in for a $1000 Believers Club membership...

August Schell is legit and sooner or later their beers will be hard to track down.

Here are Hatful's notes on the beers: The Dock Street beer was aged in a red wine barrels with Wu Tang Clan playing on a loop non stop I haven't even had the Burley Oak Lord pHunk yet because cryme told me it probably needed a little time after he opened one of his. I hope it's decent. The De Garde bottle is from the anniversary party earlier this year. It's very very good. Tired Hands Freedom From the Known is the closest thing to the Emptiness series they've done since opening the Fermentaria. It's excellent. Silva Stout was included because I was freaking out about what I was going to send and I happened to have a bottle sitting nearby where I was packing and you didn't have it checked in on untappd. Totally random. Ourison is SaisonHands aged in oak foeders. Sort of like HandFarm lite. I haven't even opened one of my bottles yet but I've heard good things. Troegs Impending Descent is one of their better beers and should really be a seasonal rather than a scratch beer at this point (so I can buy it without driving out to the brewery). It's a really great rich roasty stout. Telemachus was like the only F&M bottle you hadn't checked in outside of a few of the older releases that I only have single bottles of. I haven't opened one in a while but it was a really nice orange-y honey-forward golden barleywine earlier this year. Conshohocken Day Without A Dawn is either a Black IPA or a Hoppy Stout. Whatever it is, I like it. Also : cool can. The 3 homebrews are: Brett Cardigan - 2014 - My first attempt at a cider is a 100% brett fermented cider with cherries. Earl Gray tea was used to add tannins and it was aged for a month on a heap of sour cherries. The resulting cider was like cherry pie filling. It was the perfect fall beer. Comforting like a cardigan, hence the name. This particular bottle has aged a year so the cherries have faded a bit and the brett is more pronounced. But I still like it. Intentionlly uncarbed. Coffee Blueberry Oud Bruin - 2015 - This was a total mistake that I kept loving with. Started as a brown ale that had a weird overpowering woody hop flavor so I blended in a new batch of lightly hopped wort to temper the hoppiness. The resulting beer didn’t have the roasted character I was expecting so I added cold brew coffee. But I still wasn’t happy so I decided to just sour it with flemish ale yeast. I’m actually pretty happy with how this turned out even though it’s a very weird beer. It never carbed. Sour Pale - 2015 - This is my first attempt at making a hoppy sour. The base recipe was a very light mosaic and lemon drop pale ale. It was fermented with Yeast Bay Funktown Pale Ale, aged for 3 months, then dry hopped with Australian Summer. I’m incredibly happy with how it turned out. I just wish I had made it earlier in the year so I could sip on it in warmer weather
