I wonder if the Unity3D people will adopt Swift/LLVM or if they'll keep on using C# and developing their weird C#->IR->C++ compiler. edit: Swift doesn't work with C++ apparently, so probably not since Unity3D is C++ on the inside. Still, some sort of thin C wrapper to let end user devs use Swift would probably be easier to maintain than a C# IR to C++ compiler. swift was designed for hipster coders, the kind that are into very obscure language features, you probably never heard of them. basically there's a whole generation of "developers" that grew up on JavaScript and Python and can't write code that doesn't make implicit copies of objects everywhere. Apple needed a language for these babies to get on board their platforms that is compatible with the objective C runtime.
