So, technopop favorite Perfume released their latest album last week and here's the latest single: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6T0wOMsNrI Gave a quick listen to it on Spotify. Is it just me or they're kinda going stale? I was pretty much a big fan of Nakata's compositions but since Spending All My Time I've been enjoying only B-sides sometimes. Welp, the girls' kung-fu moves in this video look pretty cool though. In a mostly unrelated note, does someone recognizes this song from Guinea Pig 3? Not sure if it was made for the movie but maybe it's really from that record the dude grabs and plays. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LB2-1YviYTE&t=180s Negostrike fucked around with this message at 08:13 on Apr 13, 2016 |

Amanaguchi is a joke compared to Capsule, really. And yep, Sketch Show proves Hosono and Takahashi still got it in them years after YMO. Lots of good stuff in their solo albums as well. Some of their "Sketch Showy" solo albums for those interested: Yukihiro Takahashi - The Dearest Fool (1999) Couldn't find any of its songs on YouTube unfortunately. Haruomi Hosono - Omni Sight Seeing (1989) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxvjXDAfPhk

JAMOOOL posted:Hah, I didn't know anyone actually knew of this album! Probably one of my favorites of his. I wish "00" was on YouTube because that's one of my favorite songs of his full stop, maybe because of it's more-than-incidental similarity to "Jumbo" by Underworld? Here's hoping Takahashi's full discography gets released on Spotify in the near future. There's only some recent ones and Only When I Laugh from 1986. The Dearest Fool is a special one for some reason. Nice collabs with Keiichi Suzuki too.

Welp, remember Especia, that vaporwave-y group? They're back from their hiatus after the graduation of 3 members and they're jazzy as gently caress. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nIWvgXiXyM There's a new member, Mia Nascimento. Seems to be Brazilian or something.

Gamma Nerd posted:Yup, Brazil and Japan are pretty closely intertwined culturally. Is she related to Milton Nascimento by any chance? Couldn't find any info about her, really. Didn't see that coming, as a Brazilian myself. Though their last album has a collab with a Brazilian vaporwave musician.

She's still doing some gigs here and there. Performed with Hijokaidan in February at Club Goodman in Akihabara. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXFskcJw4LY Negostrike fucked around with this message at 21:20 on Aug 9, 2016 |

ReidRansom posted:Can anyone recommend me any good Japanese indie? Something lo-fi/jangle-ish, maybe? But whatever is cool. I'm laying over in Tokyo for a few days on the way home from an expedition and figured I'd pop by Disk Union to have a poke around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXZ21s71kDU&hd=1
